FAQs

Answers before you share.

Quick answers about groups, approvals, offline payments, reminders, service rules, and how SharingSG keeps subscription sharing organised.

What is SharingSG?

SharingSG is a marketplace-style tool for finding and managing shared subscription seats. Hosts create groups; members request to join; payments are handled offline.

Does SharingSG process payments?

No. SharingSG does not collect, hold, escrow, refund, or transfer money. Owners and members arrange payment directly through PayNow, bank transfer, cash, or another method they trust.

Is SharingSG free?

Yes. SharingSG is free. Every host and member gets full access to all features. Optional donations may help cover hosting and development, but they do not unlock anything extra.

Can anyone join my group?

No. Hosts can keep groups private with an invite link or make them public and approve requests manually. Public requests still need host approval.

What is the host buffer?

The host buffer is a small 5% uplift built into suggested per-seat prices. It gives hosts a little room for rounding, foreign exchange or payment-transfer fees, and admin effort while still keeping prices transparent for members.

What if someone does not pay?

Hosts can mark a member as pending or overdue, send reminders, and remove the member if needed. SharingSG tracks status only and does not mediate disputes.

When do members pay?

The selected catalog plan sets one billing cycle for the whole group: monthly plans bill monthly and yearly plans bill yearly. New members pay a prorated amount through the next renewal date. Settlement still happens directly between the host and member.

Does SharingSG share service passwords publicly?

No. Account access notes are only intended for approved members inside the group dashboard. Account details only unlock for members whose current billing cycle has been marked paid. Hosts should still be careful about what they share.

How are account details encrypted?

Sensitive account access fields are encrypted before storage. Account details are only shown to the host or members who are paid through the current billing cycle.

Do I need to follow each service’s sharing rules?

Yes. Users are responsible for checking and following the terms of each subscription service. SharingSG does not endorse breaking third-party terms.

Can I list any service?

The create flow uses a catalog so listings stay clean and comparable. More services can be added to the catalog over time.

How do reminders work?

Owners can set reminder timing before the billing date. SharingSG can help surface or send reminders, but members and hosts remain responsible for payment arrangements.
